Divinci
study
Influenza is a major public health problem and can cause severe complications in moms and infants. We are studying how the body responds to infections and vaccines. The main goal of this global study is to better understand and provide information to contribute towards more effective and longer lasting vaccines.
HEarts
study
The emergence of COVID-19 in late 2019 led to a rapid spread worldwide. New variants continue to emerge. This study seeks to better understand how COVID-19 are being passed/transmitted in the household and community. We also want to understand long term protection against repeated infections.
Rotavirus
study
Rotavirus causes diarrhea and vomiting in infants and children. The Rotavirus vaccine is given in infancy in the US and around the world. While the vaccine works well to provide protection from the virus in high-income countries, it does not work as well in middle to low income countries. Our research is looking into why this happens.
Whooping Cough (Pertussis) Immunity Study
Recently there has been a significant increase in the number of pertussis (whooping cough) cases, predominately in teenagers, suggesting that the acellular pertussis vaccine (aP) that replaced the whole-cell pertussis vaccine (wP) in the mid-1990s might be associated with waning immunity. This study aims to characterize an effective vaccine response to improve immunity.
