What is the Baby Saint Study about?
There is an urgent need to investigate immune responses to COVID-19 natural infection and the vaccines being approved and delivered. This research study is being conducted to better understand how children’s bodies learn to fight off the COVID-19 virus and other respiratory viruses compared with adults. The study also seeks to understand how mothers protect their young infants during pregnancy and breastfeeding vaccine works.
Pregnant women and children are included in this study in order to develop important biomedical knowledge about these populations in relation to SARS-CoV-2 infection and the COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 affects all individuals and may impact pregnant women and children differently. We intend to expand our knowledge on how the disease and vaccine affects these vulnerable populations.
