Postdoctoral research scholar: Epidemiology/Biostatistics

The Pediatric Immunization Advancement Laboratory at the University of California San Diego is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the field of Epidemiology/biostatistics. The successful candidate will work with our bioinformatician to analyze longitudinal cohort datasets that include epidemiologic, clinical, immunologic, and microbiologic data. Our translational research program studies immune responses to natural infections and vaccinations, mucosal immunity, and the interplay between host microbial and immunological factors. Successful candidates must be capable of working in highly multidisciplinary research teams.

Postdoctoral research scholar: Microbiology/Virology/Immunology

The Pediatric Immunization Advancement Laboratory at the University of California San Diego is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the field of Microbiology/Immunology. The successful candidate will work alongside other lab members, collaborators and clinical colleagues to develop new methods and techniques related to deep immunophenotyping, co-culture models and big data. The successful candidate will have exposure to several ongoing and new studies related to SARS-Cov-2, Flu, RSV, Pertussis, breast milk and the microbiome.

Research Nurse

 

The Research Nurse will be responsible for carrying out COVID-19, Influenza, RSV and other vaccine research study protocols. Responsibilities vary by study and may include screening potential study participants, providing informed consent, administering vaccine, following subjects in longitudinal study protocols for routine and illness visits, medical record review, having telephone and in-person contact with participants, physical exam, blood draws, nasal or nasopharyngeal swabs, other specimen collection, completing case report forms, interacting with research team, and other research related entities as needed.

Clinical Research Assistant

Under the supervision of the PI, the incumbent will support the clinical research and quality improvement efforts of the study team. Support the clinical research operation; communicate with research participants, schedule visits, assist in the handling and processing of biological samples; shipping of samples for general lab assays and data entry. May be involved in clinical and quality improvement projects that also involve recruitment, and ensuring performance of protocols according to schedule, including data entry and reporting on data results back to participants. Incumbent will assist in the day-to-day operation of the research team. Responsible for assisting with and ensuring the quality of data collected, maintaining databases, ensuring adequate lab supplies for the function of the lab.

Laboratory Research Assistant

 

Under supervision, this position involves performance of laboratory assays including specimen processing, PCR, ELISAs, and other routine assays . In addition, the applicant will perform lab maintenance work including preparation of reagents and making inventory of specimens. The applicant will also assist other lab members in their experiments as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Trainees

Our laboratory accepts graduate, medical and MPH students interested in epidemiology, immunology, vaccinology, public health, and/or mother infant heath research to join our multi-disciplinary team.
