Postdoctoral research scholar: Microbiology/Virology/Immunology
The Pediatric Immunization Advancement Laboratory at the University of California San Diego is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the field of Microbiology/Immunology. The successful candidate will work alongside other lab members, collaborators and clinical colleagues to develop new methods and techniques related to deep immunophenotyping, co-culture models and big data. The successful candidate will have exposure to several ongoing and new studies related to SARS-Cov-2, Flu, RSV, Pertussis, breast milk and the microbiome.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
Ph.D. in related fields (Biology, Microbiology, Virology, or Immunology)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Practical experience in advanced immunological, virological, microbiological and pathological methods

Experience handling/culturing category 2 pathogens is required, experience with category 3 pathogens is desirable but not required.

Experience with one or more of the following is desired: RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, tissue culture and organoid co-culture models, TCR/BCR sequencing, flow cytometry and metabolomics.

Experience working with human or laboratory animal samples

Be able to successfully interact with diverse stakeholders including faculty, clinicians, bench scientists, translational researchers, and students.

Evidence of previous experience supervising students or other junior lab members.

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Have at least two first-author papers in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings.
The Postdoctoral Scholars will engage in related training and research activities, hone proposal/grant preparation skills, publish scholarly articles, advance teaching skills and presentation skills, as well as network with the broader research community.
Expected Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
